According to our friend Bill Hunt over at The Digital Bits, FOX is bringing the Baz Luhrmann (“Australia“, “Strictly Ballroom“) directed films “Moulin Rouge!” (2001) & “Romeo + Juliet” (1996) to Blu-ray Disc on October 19th. The releases are stated to include the following bonus materials:

“Moulin Rouge will include an exclusive Spectacular, Spectacular Picture-in-Picture viewing mode with audio commentary (by Baz Luhrmann, Catherine Martin, Donald M. McAlpine and Craig Pearce, and featuring behind-the-scenes footage and stills), the A Creative Adventure featurette, an Introduction by Baz Luhrmann, uncut and unreleased footage (including the Father & Son alternate opening and Nicole Kidman’s first vocal test), 6 production featurettes (The Stars, The Writers, The Design, The Dance, The Music and The Cutting Room), The Making of Moulin Rouge documentary, BD-Live: Live Lookup and more.“
“Romeo+Juliet will include a new Shaking Up Shakespeare Picture-in-Picture viewing mode with audio commentary (by Baz Luhrmann, Catherine Martin, Donald M. McAlpine and Craig Pearce and featuring behind-the-scenes footage and stills), uncut footage, the Romeo+Juliet: The Music featurette, filmmaker and interview galleries, BD-Live: Live Lookup and more.“

The titles will each carry a MSRP of $34.99, and though no tech specs are yet available, it can be assumed that each release will be presented in 1080p, using DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio. Executed appropriately, these releases have the potential to be exciting Hi-Def presentations, as “Romeo + Juliet” yields an interesting soundtrack (involving music by Everclear, Garbage, and The Cardigans), “Moulin Rouge!” consisting of its lyrical-melting-pot influences through out its musical numbers, and both rendering elaborate visual settings. Both titles are available for PRE-ORDER over at Amazon now with each carrying a $18.49 price tag.

I have also read that there will be a blu ray box set, with the additional features and Australia as previously releaased, more info here: http://moulinrouge.yuku.com/topic/3031

Call for Underwear! [Feb. 16th, 2010|01:13 pm]

Hi everyone!

I have an unusual request to make of you all. The Medieval Studies club at Binghamton University is putting together an academic conference on the history of underwear from the classical period to 1750. Tied in to this event will be another, a fashion show entitled "Underwear Through The Ages."

We're looking for samples of underwear from the classical period to the present day, including but not limited to Medieval, Renaissance, 18th century, Regency, Victorian, and Edwardian underwear (for both men and women, preferably as historically accurate as possible.) If any of you have pieces you would like to loan to the university for the fashion show (to be held April 24th, 2010) please email me at hallen1@binghamton.edu. We would pay for postage both ways and insurance on the garments, and your name would be in the program as the owner/maker. We are looking for all sizes.

If you think you would be interested in helping us out with this, please let me know!

Thank you very much for your time!

Sincerely,

Heather
